Artist’s residency: Fogo (Canada)
In the autumn of 2013 marjolijn Kok and line Kramer were for a residency of three months on the Canadian island Fogo. Besides a joint art project, line made art and marjolijn made art and did contemporary archaeological research. Specific objects related to living on the island were researched in cooperation with the local inhabitants. The aim is to explicate the cultural meaning of daily use-objects. The obvious heritage (wooden boats and houses) is extended to objects that are overlooked due to their everyday character.
The research follows what the island and her inhabitants bring to the fore.
The research is made possible by the Shorefast foundation.
